About FacePro
FacePro was founded in February 2007 by game industry veteran Rod Stafford to provide high-quality facial animation services to the game industry. The team now consists of animators and technical artists from around the world, with extensive backgrounds in the game industry - as well as Film, Broadcast, and Applications Development expertise.
The FacePro Concept
Underlying the technological aspects of what we do at FacePro is an emphasis on technique over tools, of a sense of animation "feel" over dependency on elaborate technology.
As facial capture technologies become ever more complex, and focus on the process of "recording" studio sessions in the real world, to be reproduced in virtual space by other complex technologies, they inevitably become more expensive, both in the "harvesting" of capture data and in the final implementation.
Another immutable aspect of capture technologies is that since they are essentially "recordings" of highly complex events in the real world, they lack the natural production flexibility of animation, which is easily changed and updated as projects evolve.
Quality and Value
To be sure, exotic capture technologies have their place - and stratospheric budgets to match. But we feel there is a point where capture technologies and animation meet, where the perceived impression of the two in game space is essentially equal.
Creating quality and value at this point is what FacePro is all about.
